Spread Me

11/27/15 ~ by Griz (aka Steve Stovner) ~

When I am gone,
My body is trash,
Convert it to ash.

Ashes absorb oil spills,
Make great anti-skid for ice,
Can also be pressed into dice.

Deodorize the fridge,
Cast them on the yard,
Fertilize Swiss Chard.

Spread me in the forest,
Spread me on the sea,
Spread me where I love to be.

Sprinkle the ashes with reverence,
Fling them with glee,
Do it to be rid of me.

My tools for others to use,
My beliefs and thoughts for all to hear,
Good or bad - I do not fear.

Immense shame for some of my deeds,
Abounding regrets for things undone,
Filled with pride for the life I spun.

Life goes on,
My genes survive,
It's up to you to keep them alive.

I've done a portion,
I gave you a start,
Be proud by doing your part.

Pass your learnings forward,
Identify & mentor your family,
Your purpose is to enhance humanity.

Envision a future,
What it is - I don't give a hoot,
Every day, work on the route.

Return me to the earth,
I will start anew,
I'm forever here with you.
